The story

It all started with a road, a field, and what seemed like nothing more than overgrown vegetation. But beneath the surface, something else was hidden.

Driving through the Portuguese countryside, fragments of stone emerged from the earth—partially buried, reclaimed by nature over decades. Beneath layers of soil and time lay slabs of marble and limestone, perfectly intact yet discarded.

Further ahead, a building came into view. It belonged to a stone factory that, for decades, had left its offcuts in the surrounding landscape—materials deemed too small, irregular, or unsuitable for standard production. But what was considered waste held far greater potential.

"When I lifted my gaze, I saw a building in the distance. I drove there and discovered that the stone industry had been discarding its offcuts into nature for a very long time." - Joanna

That moment sparked an idea. Instead of allowing these high-quality materials to be forgotten, what if they could be repurposed? What started as a way to salvage beautiful stone for small tables quickly evolved into something bigger.

"At first, the idea was simple - rescue stunning pieces of stone and turn them into timeless tables. But the more we explored, the clearer it became that there was far more material than just tabletops. The potential was limitless." – Joanna

A new way of thinking about stone
Two years later, interest in resso lab’s work is growing—both in Sweden and internationally. After two successful exhibitions at Stockholm Furniture Fair, more and more architects, designers, developers, and furniture producers are rethinking how they source materials, recognizing that reclaimed stone offers the same quality as newly quarried materials—without the environmental cost.

"We’re at a turning point. Clients are realizing that choosing reclaimed materials isn’t a compromise—it’s an advantage. It’s not just about sustainability; it’s about making smarter choices for the future." – Joanna

resso lab now collaborates with architects, interior designers, developers, and furniture producers to integrate reclaimed stone into commercial and residential projects. Hotels, restaurants, office spaces, private homes, and furniture collections are beginning to embrace stone with history, rather than extracting new resources.

"There is so much material out there—high-end stone that was never used simply because it didn’t fit standard dimensions. We make sure it finds a purpose." – Joanna

Nothing should go to waste
At resso lab, reclaimed stone isn’t an alternative—it’s the future of premium design. Instead of extracting new materials, the focus is on what already exists—refining and redefining it for modern architecture, interiors, and furniture production.

"I’ve seen firsthand how much stone is left behind. Perfectly good materials that would otherwise be wasted. I’m passionate about making sure that doesn’t happen." – Joanna

We don’t follow trends - we reshape them.
